A twenty-five-year-old story with no ending

Slovenia – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology | 22/06/2016

Did you know...

... that in the past 25 years, the government has made it possible for citizens to use modern e-services in the comfort of their homes, instead of conducting business with it ‘on foot’?
... that the procedure for establishing a company took 3 to 6 months in 1991, whereas it now takes only a day for a sole proprietor and a few days for a limited liability company ?
... that in 1991 GDP per capita was EUR 5,000 and in 2015 it was over EUR 18,000?

These and other examples have been collected by the Government Communication Office, together with relevant ministries, in the publication The Story of Twenty-Five Years. On the 40-odd pages of the publication, you will find an overview of developments in government operations (finance, economy, foreign policy, social affairs, health care, culture...).

We tend to overlook achievements or take them as self-evident. Here we draw attention to the good aspects of the society we live in and the organisation achievements for which even other developed countries take us as an example – but also matters that still need to be dealt with.

Did you know...

... that for 25 years we have had one of the best systems of parental leave and childbirth allowances?
… that life expectancy has increased by more than six years since 1991?
… that in 1991, 350,000 theatre-goers were recorded, whereas in 2014 this number had doubled to 745,400?

With Slovene and English versions of the publication on the thematic website www.slovenija25.si (the English part is at www.slovenia25.si), we wish to bring the contents and events of the festive year to as many people as possible. Along with chronological and historical information on Slovenia, addresses by Slovenian political leaders and a calendar of various events, the website also offers an abundance of interactive content.
