Because this year's Expo is unique for the country in many respects, Slovenia has defined another set of goals in addition to strengthening the ‘I feel Slovenia’ brand: strengthening economic cooperation with Italy and other countries, and promoting Slovenia as a tourist destination and its business environment and geo-strategic location. “The goal is to make Slovenia attractive to foreign investments that promote the creation of new jobs with high added value that are environmentally friendly. We believe that we will succeed,” said minister Počivalšek.
I FEEL SLOVENIA - Green. Active. Healthy. Planica proves that the slogan is true.
The world cup ski jumping finals in Planica will not only be a celebration of sport, but also an opportunity for Slovenia's tourism presentation, including sharing its love of nature that will also be showcased at Expo 2015 in Milan under the slogan ‘I FEEL SLOVENIA - Green. Active. Healthy.’ A green, natural environment is a prerequisite for producing healthy food; in addition to food, a healthy lifestyle includes actively spending time outdoors. Slovenia’s green landscape offers many opportunities for different activities throughout the year. It is an excellent place for world-class athletes to train and prepare, and an attractive setting for many sports events, as it has infrastructure and knowledge and beautiful countryside. Proof of this is the new, modern Planica Nordic centre with the new super ski jumping hill, which will be the focus of attention of Slovenian and international sports fans this weekend.
Slovenia is aware of the significance of recognisable and widely covered sports events for the promotion of Slovenia and the Slovenian tourist offer. Therefore, the SPIRIT agency and GCO organise many promotional activities at popular sports events in order to improve recognition of and promote Slovenia, Slovenian tourism and the ‘I feel Slovenia’ national brand.
Slovenia among the twelve participants at Expo Gate in Milan
On Saturday, 21 March, economy minister Zdravko Počivalšek will attend Expo Gate in Milan, which is one of the most important promotional events before the opening of Expo Milano 2015. The two-day programme will feature a presentation of Slovenia’s eight regions, music and dance performances, and a presentation of national cuisine through different stories and the preparation of typical dishes. Only 12 countries were selected for the Expo Gate, including Slovenia, whose project excited Italian organisers.
Independent pavilion perfectly located at the centre of events
Slovenia is one of the 53 countries out of 144 being showcased in their own pavilion, which measures 800 m2, under the slogan ‘I feel Slovenia. Green. Active. Healthy.’. Visitors will be guided through five themes - salt, bees, thermal and mineral waters, hiking and biking and black carbon – interactively using different multimedia elements. Slovenian regions will significantly co-shape the programme - the stress will be on tourism and cultural themes.
The Slovenian pavilion is perfectly located at the centre of the event, at the crossroads of two main streets where the main social event will take place. According to the Spirit agency, the central location makes the specially designed wooden pavilion function as a display, which is at the same time a mirror of, and vehicle for, promoting Slovenian know-how in wood construction. Slovenian companies were involved in the design, construction and presentation of the pavilion.
The main Slovenian presentation will be on 19 June 2015, which will be Slovenian national day at Expo. The government has allocated 5 million euros for the presentation.
